~2007 Voodoo Music Fest in City Park

The New Orleans Voodoo Music Experience held annually in City Park was, and now is again, in the Wizard's opinion, one of the better local events. Due to the damage to the City Park location by hurricane Katrina, the 2005 Vooodoo Music Experience was held in other locations in a best they could do, show must go on, make do.

Now two years later,after a lot of hard work and planning, the Voodoo Music Experience is back,BIGTIME,and expanded.

The 2007 Voodoo Music Festival is being expanded to 3 days,from Friday Oct. 26 through Sunday Oct. 28.

Announced acts so far include: Smashing Pumpkins,Wilco,Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals,Fall Out Boy,The Black Crowes,Sinead O'Conner[*****],Kings of Leon,Common,Clap Your Hands Say Yeah,Spoon,Toots & The Maytals,Black Rebel Motorcycle Club[*****],Tiesto in Concert,La Koka Nostra with Everlast & The House of Pain,Coheed and Cambria,Gym Class Heroes,Zap Mama.
Local artists and musicians include Dr. John,Galcticwith Mr. Liff and Lyrics Born,Mute Math,Rotary Downs,Ghost,The New Orleans Social Club,Henry Butler,The Preservation Hall Jazz Band,The Bibgo Show,Liquidrone,George Porter Jr.,Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue,Theresa Andersson,Big Sam's Funky Nation,Ivan Neville's DumpstaPhunk,The Morning 40 Federation,Bonerama,The Hot 8& Soul Rebels,and Amanda Shaw.

The Wizard longs for Dr. Rocket, The Sisters of Mercy, and Verbal Abuse, but time marches on,and at least I can relate well with "The Night Tripper" Dr. John, and Sinead O'Conner.
In today's music world The Wizard wishes Tey and her group, just back from their 2007 Mid-East Tour, entertaining our United States Troops, were booked for the Voodoo Music Fest. I think Tey Punsalan, and her entourage, deserve a lot of thanks, and credit, for going to the dangerous Middle East, and unselfishly doing a great job, showing a lot of heart, doin their thing, for our Armed Forces, who are a long ways from home and in constant danger.
